Can the same account holder have both a Horde and Alliance character on the same Realm?

This is possible and allowed on normal servers however it is
not allowed on PvP Servers.

Will my character get any kind of credit for killing guards?

World of Warcraft have decided to no longer award honorable
kills for killing any NPCs other than racial leaders.
This is done to prevent abuse from players who "grind" for
honor thereby making the honorable kills more "valuable"
