World of Warcraft Tips Tricks and Hints: Use the City Guards

This problem can be easily avoided just by using all of the tools that have been provided for you by the game developers. First of all, be sure you are reading your map correctly. If you are not using it or your guide it all, you should open a new window, login to your WOW account, and study your guide is it is the most useful tool you have and has much of the information you need. If you are using the guide but continue to get lost or cannot find where you need to be, just pause for a second and try to locate the city guard that is closest to your present location using your guide and map. At the risk of sounding corny, the city guards can be your best friends in the game and be sure that they use them.

These guards can help you find your way and will put you on the right path quickly so that you waste less time randomly traveling around the city trying to find your way. If you know you are in the right geographical location, but do not know what you are supposed to do, the guide may contain explicit instructions on what you are supposed to do, and you can always consult the city guards for a few clues and hints.

Getting lost can be very frustrating and waste a lot of time in any video game, whether it be World of Warcraft or Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4. They key is to effectively use all the tools that the game developers provide you with so that you will not lose your way as often, and can find your way back to the path you should be on quickly in case you do get lost.

Real Military Tactics you can use in the World of Warcraft to improve your PvP skills

Warcraft is a game of Player versus Player (PvP) action. It is all about war and real military tactics translate well into the game. Here are some real tactics that you can use to improve your pvp in the game.

All for one and one for all

This is a tactic that was made famous by the British Navy in the 19th century. Up until that time when two fleets of ships engaged in combat each ship would find an enemy to pair up against. But this concept says that all the ships in the British fleet should simultaneously attack one enemy ship and sink it real fast. This tactic is perfect for Warcraft. If you are in a group of players and you encounter an enemy group you should call out one enemy and then all attack him at the same time. In a matter of five seconds the chosen enemy is gone and now your party of five is facing a party of four. You have a distinct advantage. You should all focus on the next foe and take him out. Using a tactic like this can make your group practically unstoppable.

Tommy Drills

This is a common term for performing the same actions over and over again. It was commonly used for learning how to load, fire, clear and reload a weapon. The purpose of repeating the drill many many times was to make it second nature. This way, when you are in combat you don't have to think about it at all -it comes automatically. You should do this with your warcraft skills. Set up your tool bar with your best weapons and defenses and then in the arena, in challenges, and in real pvp you practice the same set of button combinations. Doing this over and over will make it automatic and you practically unstoppable.

Special Forces Team Interlocking Skills

Special forces teams are small teams of soldiers that are all trained in different skills. This allows them, as a team to successfully handle a very wide range of problems. In warcraft, particularly on the battlefields like Arathi Basin or Warsong Gulch the pitch of battle is very feverish and people are fighting in a haphazard manner. You can significantly increase your chances of success if you just team up with one person with an opposite skill set. If you are a magic user type you should look for a warrior or rogue type and follow him around and conversely, if you are a hack and slash, toe-to-toe damage type you should find a magic user type to befriend or just follow around. Having two very different skill sets focused on an opponent brings an incredible array of weapons to bear that nobody few players can overcome.

The title of the game "Warcraft" says it all and it is only natural that some of the best combat techniques used by the military translate well into the game. With a little know how and a little practice you can apply these techniques and dramatically improve your pvp performance.

World of Warcraft VS Vanguard-Saga of Heroes

By Thomas Gates

There are quite a few new games coming out in the MMORPG market this year, including the highly anticipated World of Warcraft. However, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, by Sigil, one of the lesser known contenders in the MMORPG market, is releasing on January 30, just 2 weeks after the upcoming launch of WoW:BC.

After getting our hands on the beta, how does it stack up against the mighty WoW? We go in depth on the gameplay, graphics, features, similarities, and differences.

World of Warcraft has definitely changed the way MMORPGs are made. Although some claim WoW is just another Everquest clone, the amount of innovative features (ghost form upon death, mailboxes, rest exp, robust questing) and mass-market appeal put it into a class of its own. Truely, all of the new MMORPGs draw upon WoW in many more ways than one. Vanguard is no exception, and you'll find many of the same features as in WoW. But is its gameplay good enough to warrant a $50 purchase and $15/month fee?

Gameplay:

True to standard MMO affair, you must first create your ingame avatar. There are 3 factions and dozens of races, but honestly they all seem pretty similar. In fact, there are 6 human races. Besides that, there were a few wolves, gnomes, dwarves, and elves. But one race that struck me were the fox people. Yes, fox people. Interestingly enough, Vanguard does not try to seduce you with half-naked elves and such, instead they give you with fox people with boobs. Hot.

Starting areas differed greatly. Some are definitely more polished than others, which shouldn't be the case for a game 2 weeks from release. Classes are also noticeably unbalanced, with some classes having abilities that definitely need tweaking. Overall, with so many different classes, Vanguard attempts to make them all unique by adding different gameplay types to all of them. However, the classes could more work and polish as they just seem odd at times (my ranger hit harder with his sword than his bow).

Features:

Vanguard definitely draws upon WoW. That may or may not be a good thing, but I was hoping they would be more innovative and have something new. In any case, you'll find lots of quests, a looking for group system, mailboxes, a hearthstone recall type system, and many other similarities. Lets move on to the graphics.

WoW takes the cake here. Even though the game is 2 years old, its artistic style is unbeatable. Compared to WoW, Vanguard's environments look dull and bland, although the character models are quite detailed. However, to even get your game to run well and look decent, you'll need to be running the latest state of the art hardware. On the forums, there were even some complaints that the Nvidia 8800 was getting bad FPS. With a 7600GT, at times the game was choppy, but it was playable. However, if you haven't bought a new card within the past 6 months or so, you can say hello to some god awful cardboard cutout graphics.

Sound:

I'll admit - Vanguard's music is quite good for an MMORPG. It doesn't have the cinematic qualities of Gears of War, but it beats WoW in this case. At least you can hear some nice music while you stare at cardboard trees, right?

Conclusion:

Overall, Vanguard has that "old-school" Everquest feel to it. Some people said that it is the real Everquest 2, but the problem is that without mass-market appeal (we thought 500k with Everquest at its peak was mass market, but now that WoW has topped over 8 million) there is nothing that would make you play this game over WoW, even if you are sick of it. Honestly though, WoW puts Vanguard to shame. No WoW killer here folks - move along.
