Warcraft Defense Of The Ancients Guide

Defense of the Ancients, commonly known as DotA, is a custom map created in the game Warcraft 3 by Blizzard Entertainment. It combines strategy, skill, luck and lots of teamwork.

Steps To Playing Dota

  • Computer

  • Fast Internet Connection

  • A Copy of Warcraft III The Frozen Throne

  • The DotA Map (Downloaded from www.getdota.com)

Install Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne and download the latest patch by connecting to Battlenet.

Make an account on battlenet.

Next, go to www.getdota.com and download the latest map.

Once the map is downloaded, reboot Warcraft 3 and log in to Battlenet.

Start to choose a Dota game from the Custom Game List. It should say Dota, then the version, and the various game modes.

Join one of these games.

New players should choose the popular game modes with -ap. It allows you to choose your own warcraft hero.

You may begin playing Dota.

  1. Select your hero from the buildings located at the corner of the map. You may only select one hero.

  2. Next, buy a few weapons or items for your hero. Generally, you will do better by buying items that matches with your hero highest stats such as Strength, Intelligence, or Agility.

  3. TIP: In the beginning, stick to the Female Human's shop.

  4. Potions can be a great idea. They heal you in the field, but they do it over time, and stop if you are attacked, keep some on you for emergencies.

  5. Next, upgrade your first skill. Click the symbol of the Red Cross in your character's menu and choose the skill you think is most useful.

Start fighting in your lane.

When fighting in a lane, the goal is to stay alive and get as much experience as possible without dying or having to go back to your base and heal at the healing well.

Most players stand behind their friendly creeps and attack the enemy creeps. While your ally creeps gets damage, you gain xp and gold.

Do not wander further if you found yourself alone in a lane. Wait for your ally creeps and attack together as a unit.

Don't waste your special powers or abilities on enemey creeps. Rather, use it on the enemey heros to weaken or kill them.

The towers in the lanes are super powerful, don't mess with them, let your creeps damage them little by little.

As you destroy the enemies barracks, your creeps will get stronger, so this should also be a priority.

The ultimate objective of the game is to destroy the enemies base, or the main building (The Frozen Throne or the Tree of Life).

Hope you enjoy Warcraft Defense of The Ancients...
